An album cover commission. The client wanted to show the duality that he experiences as he manages the temptations of being an artist in LA while attempting to hold on to the values (family, Christianity, etc.) he was raised with in Chicago.

Base portrait

Roughing in the background and some general color for the face.

Adding more textural detail to the background and bringing up the intensity of the face to pull him away from the bg.

Adding elements that the customer requested into the background...this was challenging.

The final piece. The customer was very happy with the end result.
